Final enrollment procedures and information
Upon application all accepted students will receive a packet which details final enrollment procedures, including all necessary forms and information, and payment deadlines. The required forms include a medical authorization form, enrollment agreement, rules agreement, debate questionnaire, and an optional coaches recommendation form. All forms and fees must be completed and on-file with the SNFI administrative staff before a student may participate in the program. Students will receive a supplementary information packet approximately a month before camp begins with specific information regarding check in and lab instructors.
Program Fees Cover
Fees for residential students include room, board, and tuition. Commuter fees include tuition and lunch and dinner most days of the program. For policy debate students at the SNFI the fees now includes a disc of all evidence produced at the camp. In addition, each pair of debaters will receive a printed copy of the necessary evidence files for camp debates.
Program Fees Do Not Cover
Costs do not include transportation to and from the program, spending money, bath and bed linens, additional nights of lodging if necessary, camp memorabilia (such as t-shirts), copies made in the library, and optional recreational excursions.
Commuter Information
The SNFI offers the option of commuting to and from the camp each day. Commuter checkout is at 8:30 pm each evening, and commuters are welcome to leave at this time. However, class usually continues until later in the evening and many students (particularly policy debate students) will want to stay later most nights. Commuter students are welcome to stay until 10:45 pm each evening. Commuters must check out with the camp office each evening. Parents are responsible to coordinate pickup points and times with their children in the evening. Commuter students should be aware that the program does run on weekends and they will be expected to attend program events on Saturdays and Sundays.
Roommate Requests
Some students come to camp and have a friend they would like to room with. We do our best to accommodate student.s roommate requests, but cannot guarantee placement. The enrollment packet participants receive upon application includes the option to request a roommate. Both students must request each other in writing on enrollment forms, and the request must be submitted before the deadline for enrollment forms for the request to be honored.
Airport Shuttle Service
SNFI provides an optional airport shuttle. The airport for which we provide service is San Francisco International. Sign-up for the shuttle service is in the enrollment packet you will receive shortly after application and acceptance.
To Apply to the Stanford National Forensic Institute
Fill out the accompanying application form completely. On a separate sheet of paper applicants should list tournaments they have attended, their scores or win/loss record, division, and placement at each. Policy debate students who would like to debate with a specific partner at the institute should list that person along with their competition record. Send the completed application and a $250 deposit toward tuition (which is refundable only in the event that the student is not accepted to the program) with a check made payable to "SNFI" to the address below.
To Guarantee Acceptance to the SNFI
Applicants who pay in full upon application, and by May 1st are guaranteed admission. Paying in full before May 1st guarantees acceptance to the SNFI, but does not guarantee admission to special programs with competitive admissions.
Application Deadlines and Late Fees
The Enrollment Deadline is May 25. Late applicants will be admitted as space permits. Applications received after May 25 will incur a $50 late fee. Applications received after June 15 will incur a $100 late fee. Express mail is recommended for applications submitted after June 15. Late fees also apply to final enrollment papers and final payments which are received late. The final payment schedule will be detailed in the enrollment materials you receive after application.
